Bugs begone. In version 1.1.1 a bug exists where Musix will crash if freshly downloaded onto an iOS 5 device and a default layout is selected. A fix is on its way up to the store. In the meantime, you can work around this issue on the iPad by selecting one of the arrows for interval customization and selecting a custom interval. After that you should be able to select a default layout.

Shiverware is having a great time at #mosoconf in Saskatoon. We are having such a good time, we decided to give Musix away free today!

Friday, May 19th, 2011

Thanks everyone for checking out Musix during @PalmSounds birthday. As a show of appreciation we decided to make Musix free today.

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

The party for @PalmSounds birthday was great! Shiverware has met a lot of people but still wants to meet more. We @Shiverware love meeting people and we would like to reward people for getting to know us. Therefore, the more people we meet on twitter, the more often Musix will be free. Here is how it works: Everytime we get 100 new followers on twitter we will make Musix free fo r a day. So if we get 100 followers, one day free. If we get 1000 followers, 10 days free. So, follow us on twitter and retweet to all your friends. The more the merrier.

We have been hard at work on a new version of Musix. One of the new features is a new coloring for the notes and the ability to have Musix show you the notes in a scale. Check out a screenshot of the new beta

Friday, January 28th, 2011

Version 1.1 is finally out. The main new feature is iPhone/iPod Touch support. We managed to shrink all the best features down to fit on in your pocket. Musix will run on the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod Touch 3rd and 4th generation running iOS 4.0 and the iPad running 3.2 or later.

Although our mothers always told us to be tidy, we decided to ignore her this time and fill the screen with notes, no margins go wasted!. We also added the wonderful feature of being able to slide the keyboard around on screen. If the note you want to play is not on the screen, just grab one of the sliders in the bottom left or top right corner and slide the keyboard to where you want it.

You've requested and we've delivered - Musix version 1.0.2 with OSC/Midi support is now available! Check out the in-app documentation or here on our website.

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010

Boy are things moving along nicely. While the external OSC/Midi version of the app (1.0.2) is still being approved, we have been busy working on features for the next version. The main feature you should expect is internal hexagon control for OSC and Midi. In OSC you will have the ability to receive the location of touch within each hexagon so you can tell where the hexagon was touched. We give you the data and let you use your imagination to do with it what you will. As well, Midi is gaining much more expressive controls. You can use the location of a touch within the hex to control velocity, send cc commands, instrument pitch bends, or aftertouch. By default the vertical touch location controls the velocity of each note and horizontal movement allows for instrument pitch bending.

For now these expressive controls will only be for external output, but in the future we hope to port them to our synth engine.

We have been working very hard here at Shiverware in order to provide new features for Musix. The first new feature of many is the ability to connect Musix to your computer via OSC or Midi in order to use Musix as an interface and have your Mac or PC do the hard Synth and recording work. Midi uses DSMidiWifi (DMSI) in order to transport your playing into midi signals. This update has been submitted to the App Store in Version 1.0.2 and should be out in a few days!

Version 1.0.1 has been released on the App Store. It fixes the youtube issue when the device is running under low memory.

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

It's official, Musix has finally made it to the App Store. We hope you find Musix to be an excellent iPad app, and more importantly, a useful and fun instrument. We have been working on Musix for a while now to get it to where it is today. Let me just say, this is just the start for Musix. We have many future features planned, and are hoping for feedback in order to help us steer Musix in the direction you want to see it go. Have an idea, a comment, or a complaint? Just send us off an email, and we will see what we can do.

Please note: Version 1.0 has one known bug.
  • When viewing help videos, the program may crash under low memory conditions. This bug will be addressed in the next release, which should occur in the next week.
